  • Doug Jenkins plays a wide variety of great music. With his diverse array of music, he can please crowds of any age. Doug has an abundance of experience; he has taken the stage at the Chicago Auto Show, various college charity events, The Metro, Double Door, Schuba's, Beat Kitchen, and much more. He is also the lead singer and guitarist for local great The Rikters. Doug is available for acoustic solo and duo gigs, and can entertain guests with a mix of covers and great original material. Please inquire for set lists and availability.
    • Catchy anthem rock with a snappy, sleek base and a few lyrical soft spots that makes the band, and their tunes, instantly likeable. - Lisa Balde, The Daily Herald
    • Power rock trio The Rikters proves less is more on its new EP, Don't You Get It. The group's barebones arrangements allow its musicianship to shine through on punchy, pop-worthy numbers like "Want It, You Got It." But just as inviting is lead vocalist Doug Jenkins' unusual introspection on lines like 'Wondering if true love is really Disney propaganda. - Max Herman (Illinois Entertainer) on Don't You Get It
    • The Rikters are back with Don't You Get It, a 7-song EP that flies by while listening to it and gets better every time. Guitarist/singer Doug Jenkins really shows off his voice on these songs, especially on "Want It You Got It." "You" is a flat out rocker and parts of "Give Me the Wheel" dabble in Radiohead territory. Great bass lines, sharp guitar and pounding drums are prevalent throughout this indie/power pop disc. With 2 eps under their belt, I'm hoping for a full length follow up that rocks as hard as this EP. - Kyle J.  on Don't You Get It
    • The band's straight power rock and the way Jenkins' voice carries remind me of more recent Ted Leo & the Pharmicists. There's a energy and excitement as the band course through the "One Way," its the anthemic sort of song that launched a thousand parties. - Joe Pence - openingbands.com on Mistaken For Scientists

  • Hailing from Saskatoon, Canada, Nigel Mack spent 15 years in Vancouver, British Columbia, before moving to the Chicago “center of the blues world” in 2003. Through the years, this hard-working artist has toured North America relentlessly, logging over a half million miles, and headlined many top blues venues and festivals in Europe. It was this time on the road that inspired Nigel's 2001 release, ”Road Rage.”. As a performer Nigel pays respect to the blues greats who have influenced his music while embracing the modern funk-blues sound commonly heard in the Chicago blues scene today. A prolific songwriter, Nigel's music has been heard around the globe on several internationally syndicated television programs including, ”Time of Your Life” and ”Dawson's Creek.” Although Nigel is most often heard with his band, he performs in a solo acoustic format. With his 1964 Martin acoustic and a 1929 National steel guitar, Nigel plays music from such luminaries as Son House, Willy Dixon and Tampa Red, in addition to his original tunes.
    • From Chicago to New York to his hometown of Vancouver, Canada, blues man Nigel Mack (vocals/harmonica/guitar) is a triple blues threat. Drawing rave reviews for his CD High Price to Play his driving mixture of Chicago, delta and funk blues is wowing audiences across North America. - Vancouver International Jazz Festival Guidet
    • Nigel Mack's new recognition is well deserved. Both his slide style and his harp work are refreshingly un-forced, and he struts his versatility on everything from Willie Cobb's jaunty "You Don't Love Me" to Elmore James's searing "The Sky is Crying," as well as his own hard-driving originals. - Chicago Reader
    • Blues harmonica player extraordinaire! - Calgary KICK-FM
    • Vancouver's slide guitar wizard,.. - Twin Cities Reader, Minneapolis, MN
    • Totally impressive... Nigel's wicked slide guitar & harp; ... keyboards and rhythm sections were immaculate. I went through a lot of film that night... - Barry Newman, Cosmic Debris

  • Second Time Around is a Classic Rock Band based out of the northwest suburbs of Chicago, featuring nine talented musicians each with countless years of experience to their credit. Second Time Around is inspired by the works of many Classic Rock greats and strives to perform their songs with passion and accuracy. A few of our favorite selections include “Hotel California” by The Eagles, “Foreplay/Longtime by Boston and “I’ve Seen All Good People” by Yes. Although our emphasis is on classic rock we enjoy performing blues-based hits such as “Sweet Home Chicago” and “Roadhouse Blues.”Top-notch vocalists John Devlin, Toni Callahan and Angie Fridono have experience as session singers both locally and nationally, and their talents make it possible for the band to replicate songs with complex harmonies. Lead guitarists, John Tow and Al Hamilton are as talented as they come, delivering authentic classic rock guitar solos. Our drummer Ralph Colao adds intense energy and excitement to his craft, and bassist Steve Fahrner and keyboardist Paul Heinz add years of experience to the band.  Last, but not least, our founding member and acoustic-slide guitar/harmonica player, John Fridono, affords us the opportunity to perform authentic blues, adding a unique flair to our sound. • Stan Karcz has no reservations about revealing his heart through his songs. In the finest tradition of the Country & Pop troubadour, the timbre of his soul shines through his music. Growing up in the city of Chicago, a first generation American, Stan’s musical inclinations were evident at an early age. His family, immigrants from Poland, were ardent supporters of his musicality. Beginning with the accordion, he quickly progressed to clarinet, tenor sax, and ultimately, the piano. Stan honed his keyboard craft through private study at the Sherwood Music Conservatory and the Bloom School of Jazz. Today, Stan’s original songs neatly stitch a patchwork of influences; Country, Southern Rock, Pop, and Blues, into an accessible musical tapestry. He writes about life’s positive experiences, as well as its trials and tribulations. He likes to write a story with a universal message that the listener can understand.   Stan Karcz and the PM Band plays swing, pop, rock and brings the party to life with great songs from the Golden Era of the forties up to today’s pop tunes.
